Out and about in Milngavie, 2021

Merry Christmas to all of our festive friends, old and new! Christmas is fast approaching and it’s that exciting time of year when Christmas events are starting to pop up on our calendars – from local outdoor markets to craft fairs and Christmas festivals, here’s a sneak peek at all of our planned events in our travels across the West of Scotland in the upcoming season…

Local events near Helensburgh

With our wee shop nestled on the (sometimes) sunny seafront of Helensburgh, our elves will have plenty of opportunities to mingle with our local friends outside of the shop at these planned events in the town and elsewhere in Argyll and Bute – be sure to pop by to any of these events and say hello!

As always, we’re all looking forward to spending the weekend at Helensburgh’s very own Winter Festival 2022 (26th-27th November) and joining in the festive fun in our home town. From 10am-5pm on both days you can find our elves at The Olde Christmas Shoppe stall along with a host of other fantastic local and visiting vendors with everything from street food, distilleries, handmade accessories and artisan nibbles that are sure to put a dent in the Christmas shopping.

If this bountiful Christmas market isn’t enough, there will be entertainment for all ages throughout the weekend – fairground rides, live music and of course the prestigious Santa Dash that sees dozens of St. Nicks participate in a fun run through the streets. Check out how much fun we had with the elves and Hippy Things gang at last year’s event – we even made a woolly new friend!

We will also be heading up the road a wee bit that very same weekend for the Cameron House Festive Market where you can be sure to find “twinkling lights, delicious mulled wine, a festive atmosphere and gorgeous unique gift popup shops” in their all-new ballroom – this could even be the perfect place to warm up after a chilly day of Festival fun in Helensburgh with free entry to all. We’re very excited to go along to this event for the very first time and hope to see some of you there!

Events in Glasgow and beyond

As well as our local events, we will be packing up our favourite baubles and other festive must-haves to travel around some of the best Christmas markets that Scotland has to offer this year. In fact, we will be kicking the festive season off with a fun-filled long weekend at the SEC Country Living Christmas Fair (17th-20th November). Not only will we be joining a fabulous selection of vendors but there will also be an array of crafting workshops to participate in, expert guest speakers and of course a steady stream of bubbly to get you in the festive spirit. Be quick, though – this is a ticketed event, with spaces available here at the SEC website.

Last year’s goodies at House for an Art Lover

We will be incredibly busy on November 27th; we will be at Helensburgh Winter Festival and Cameron House, as well as making another appearance at House for an Art Lover’s bespoke Christmas Fayre! This annual event is held in the stunning venue inspired by the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and is unticketed, so you can just show up on the day and experience the beauty of this building while browsing a collection of some of the most unique and high-quality gifts and winter treats on offer. This is one of our favourite past events that we would hate to miss!

Finally, to bring us into our favourite month of the year we will be joining a brand-new event at the high-end Mar Hall Christmas Market held in their spacious wedding marquee (9th-11th December, 10am-6pm). This fabulous event is the perfect opportunity to put the finishing touches on your Christmas shopping with even more wonderful handmade gifts sweets and more – we’ve heard rumours that Santa Claus himself will make a special appearance at this event so be sure to bring the whole family along for some pre-Christmas fun.
